About this site
Farm Ice is an independent guide to minor league hockey in North America, written for fans, families and anyone curious about the levels below the NHL.
What this site is
Farm Ice is an independent information site about minor league professional hockey in North America. It explains how the AHL, the ECHL and the SPHL work, how players move from junior and college hockey toward the NHL, what affiliations, two-way contracts and call-ups mean, and how to enjoy a game as a fan.
What it is not
This site is not a league, a team, a players' association or a ticket seller, and it is not affiliated with any of them or with any person mentioned on it. It is not a fan forum and does not publish scores, standings, rosters, transactions or rumours, because those change daily and belong to the leagues and teams themselves. League, team and trophy names appear only to describe the subject and belong to their owners.
How the guides are written
Facts about league histories, team counts, draft rules and overtime formats come from the official websites of the leagues and the NHL and from established reference sources. Figures that change from season to season are given with the season they apply to. Where a detail could not be confirmed from a reliable public source, it was left out.
How to use it
Read the guides in any order. For current schedules, tickets, affiliations and rulebooks, go to the official league and team websites, and check the season stated on any list before you rely on it.
